There are a ton of different neurons. They all look very similar, but have different functions. The neurons are surrounded in a substance called the cell membrane. They can range from around an inch to a yard. There are three types of neurons: the pseudounipolar cells, the bipolar neurons, and the multi-polar neurons. Between the cell body, or soma, and the axon is the axon hillock.
A single neuron can't do the entire job. Think this, you have a friend, your friend has another friend, their friend has another friend, and so on. Those are the neurons. They are like a big group of friends who communicate to each other and share information.
